Provacuno achieves the study trip to Spain for Japanese importers with success!

Last week, a study trip organized under the Wonderful Beef 2.0 campaign ended with success.

With the aim to promote and increase the awareness about the qualities of European Beef, during five days, six top japanese importers professionals from the Japanese meat sector visited several Spanish farms, slaughterhouses and cutting plants.

The first day, the group had the great opportunity to visit a small farm in Galicia that is part of a large cooperative. There, they were able to observe the first step of the European production model, appreciating animal welfare and becoming more deeply aware of the feeding and growth process. Then, the participants visited a massive slaughterhouse facility and learned about the safety and quality of European beef from Spain, which follows strict and safe production standards.

The second day, the group traveled to the region of Catalonia. During the morning, the participants assisted a seminar in Barcelona with the aim of presenting the European campaign and deepening the whole theme of the European production model. Later in the day, they visited a company with a production system that covers all the steps: from the breeding of the animal to the distribution of the product.

The third day of the mission, still in Catalonia, the group of Japanese importers was guided to a tour of an important Spanish organization with a history dating back almost 100 years. The Japanese importers witnessed the practice of extensive product traceability.

The penultimate day, the group visited a big cattle farm in Villafranca which boasts the development of homogeneous lines in breeds, sexes, conformations and fat. They could learn about the European Spanish beef, who emphasized productive capacity and extensive control from the source to create recognized quality meat.

The last day of the trip concluded at Mercamadrid, where the participants could visit the largest distribution point for wholesalers of Spain. Also, they visited a state-of-the-art beef processing plant. These facilities are under the strictest safety and hygiene requirements, and represent a clear competitive value in their beef that allows the company to guarantee the best conditions for the final product.

The study trip received great appreciations by the Japanese participants, grateful to have been able to discover each key point of the European beef sector of Spain: the selective cattle breeding program and supply chain, top-class slaughterhouse and storage facilities, dedication to traceability, state-of-the-art facilities, packing robots, foreign body detection, as well as the EPM’s strict regulations.
